Sri Hari

लोचन अभिरामा तनु घनस्यामा निज आयुध भुजचारी।

भूषन बनमाला नयन बिसाला सोभा सिंधु खरारी॥

Holding the conch, mace, lotus and discus in His four hands, His magnificent form, dark as a rain-filled cloud is a source of abiding delight to the eyes. With His broad chest adorned with a garland of fresh forest flowers and his glorious eyes, the slayer of the demon Khara, is an ocean of beauty and grace!

In the midst of the ashram stands its crown jewel, the exquisite temple of the four-armed Lord Narayana (Lord Vishnu) and Devi, known together as Śrī Hari.  We venerate the eternal union of the feminine and masculine aspects of the Divine – the primordial Shiva-Shakti, Vishnu-Lakshmi, Purusha-Prakriti principles of creation.

The epitome of jnana (knowledge), bala (strength), aisvarya (command), vīrya (valour), sakti (ability) and tejas (independence), He is the only one who can negate the impact of adversity.

He is Purshottama, the supreme being, omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient.

Śrī is the feminine energy: tender, kind-hearted and loving, with infinite compassion. She is the Mother, who bestows wealth, joy and splendour, and is always thinking of Her children. That is why she is called the Creatrix, the Empress, as it is She alone, who can give birth to and sustain the entire Universe. We turn to Her for refuge.

The vigraha (idol) of the Lord was consecrated with deep love and devotion by Swamiji on April 4, 2014 and is known to be a wish-fulfilling idol by many. Swamiji says that the magnificent vigraha of Śrī Hari

reflects your sentiment – if you smile at Him, He will smile back as heartily. If, however, you gaze at Him with suffering, wanting succour, then He will give you a gentle, reassuring smile, letting you know that He is aware of your plight and is there for you.

Sentiments of devotion and gratitude to the ever-smiling Śrī Hari in the temple are ardently carried out through abhishekam and mantra on specific days. In addition, daily aarti and sahasranāma are fervently sung in praise of the Divine.
